Sandy Koropp and Jenny Riddle love books. One day, they decided to get serious about their book-love and settle down. They decided to open a bookstore. It couldn’t be just any old bookstore. They wanted shelves stocked with the best fiction they knew of, the histories and memoirs they adored, and the most charming and fabulous children’s book section ever offered. Sandy loves cook books most of all—they needed a giant section for those—and Jenny is keen on biographies so there must be a special place for those. They wanted to put their hand-chosen books into a place with the cozy welcome of a neighbor’s home. Talk about lucky! They found the perfect thing one February day, when Scott Price, invited them to open a bookstore INSIDE his gorgeous Wheaton store. He said he’d furnish the store like the cozy home Sandy and Jenny had in mind for their books. Plus it had a cozy kitchen for cooking demos and eventually a reading room for their gatherings. Wow! How could they ever say thank you? Well, as a start, all of the book store’s guests will be inspired as they walk through the stunning Toms-Price showrooms. Here’s the extra-fun part: Prairie Path Books all along has been more than just book sales. The founders are social when it comes to their books. That’s why the store slogan is Prairie Path Books, GATHERINGS and Great Reads. Events are a big part of who they are. They wanted to create the fun of going out to a restaurant with friends. They wanted events nice enough to feel like “date night.” They wanted folks to come meet authors and talk over their works. They wanted to bring in experts on nonfiction topics that broaden understanding. They wanted to offer gift shopping (with free wrap!) that traded crowds for a festive good-time. Most of all, they wanted to connect readers, book groups and friends with books to love. Prairie Path Books was the answer. • The most personal service from ONLY staff that read constantly, and the best hand-selected reads in a fabulous space you can cozy up in. • Exclusive events from a variety of interests for all ages • Book clubs – Have your next book group meeting in our Reading Room! We’ll provide a range of titles to choose from and deliver the books right to you. To find our store, you can enter through the front door and follow the signs to the back corner of Toms-Price Home Furnishings where you will find Prairie Path Books or you can enter through our new entrance adjacent to our beautiful outdoor gathering patio space on the NW corner of the building (at the corner of Scott and Wesley). Parking is available a few steps from both doors. In addition to our wonderful selection of books, we offer a large hand picked greeting card department, distinctive gift items for all ages, specialty items for the discriminating reader, and a unique selection of toys.
